Cafe Metro, Denville, New Jersey

After a lovely afternoon at The Urban Muse Spa we drove a few blocks to Cafe Metro http://www.thecafemetro.com/ for a delicious and healthy dinner. The atmosphere is spare and bright, brick walls and white paper on the tables with crayons for the artistically inclined (or bored). For an appetizer, Andi and I shared the fresh calamari, lightly sauteed with extra virgin olive oil, roasted and hot peppers, kalamata olives, garlic, lemon, fresh herbs, and balsamic vinegar. The calamari was good (not chewy) and sauteed perfectly. The flavors were robust and the balsamic vinegar was not overpowering, but just enough to give it a nice finishing flavor. My only complaint would be the canned olives!

For dinner, Andi and I shared again--this time we had the organic pizza with vegetarian pepperoni, roasted peppers, hot peppers and mozzarella cheese. The crust was crisp and not too heavy and surprisingly, the vegetarian pepperoni was delicious. We were a bit leary about it, but it was light and not greasy like regular pepperoni. The hot peppers gave the pizza a nice spicy kick and there was plenty of cheese. It was also piping hot when it was served, which was a big plus for me! All in all, it was a great meal and a great price. It's also a BYO which is our favorite. I'd go back again, for sure.
